| Live Well Omaha Kids was created in 2006 when Alegent Health committed resources and its support to create a community coalition with the sole purpose of fighting the childhood obesity epidemic in Omaha and its surrounding communities. After hiring experienced leadership to help drive the community effort and pledging financial support through its Catalyst Fund, Alegent Health’s next step was to seek out a community-based partner. |
In 2007 Alegent Health joined forces with Our Healthy Community Partnership (OHCP), a nonprofit organization founded over a decade ago to promote the health and wellness of the Omaha community. The new collaboration created by this partnership was called Activate Omaha Kids.
Recently, Activate Omaha Kids joined with several other community initiatives – including Activate Omaha, Top 10 in 10 and YMCA Promoting Healthy Communities – to combine existing assets and align under the forum of OHCP. To effectuate and co-brand this expanded partnership, OHCP has changed its name to Live Well Omaha and Activate Omaha Kids has changed its name to Live Well Omaha Kids.
