Our Challange

We have our work cut out for us. Poor eating habits and a lack of physical
exercise have created the unhealthiest generation of kids in the last two decades.
Here are some Omaha statistics:

The number of overweight children has nearly tripled in the last two decades.
In the Omaha metro area 47 percent of nonwhite and 22 percent of white children are at an unhealthy weight.
Nebraska is the 18th heaviest state in the nation with an obesity rate of 26.5 percent.
One in six Nebraska students grades K-12 is overweight with one in three at risk of becoming overweight.
Studies show that the majority of overweight kids already have at least one avoidable risk factor for heart disease.
Obesity is the single most significant factor in the dramatic increase of type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents.
